Biography

Steve Jones is a member of the OASIS eGov Member Section Steering Committee; his term extends to <insert date>.

Mr. Jones is Head of SOA and SaaS for Capgemini Global Outsourcing. He is a thought leader for Application Development Transformation at Capgemini. He is responsible for determining how Software Oriented Architecture (SOA) impacts the outsourcing and application development businesses of Capgemini and its clients.

Mr. Jones is one of Capgemini's leading SOA practitioners and is also a member of several standards bodies, including the OASIS SOA Reference Model group, Java Business Integration, and the original JAX-RPC group. He is Capgemini's sponsor for the company's membership of both OASIS and the Java Community Process. He is a regular presenter at conferences on the business and technical challenges of SOA implementations and has acted as an advisor to several vendor product groups.

Mr. Jones is the author of Enterprise SOA Adoption Strategies, a book which helps companies adopt SOA as a business concept. He also authored the IEEE Software article, "Toward an Acceptable Definition of Service." His current focus is on how using SOA and SaaS as a business-driven exercise - rather than a technology-driven one - can help organizations create IT estates that better represent their businesses.

Prior to joining Capgemini, Mr. Jones was a chief architect for a global consultancy and a consultant architect and developer in the air traffic control industry. He has a B.Eng (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of York.
